So far I have found a few sites that seem to work well for sermon info.
First I searched google books and typed in "Matthew Commentary" which brought up a huge list of commentarys available for browsing through. This will likely be my favorite source.
Also I found
http://www.freesundayschoollessons.org/ - This site gives a little bit of background and collected information that may aid in the formation of a sermon
http://bible.org/ - This site gives a plethora of links to writings on whatever passage your looking for.
As far as commentaries go, I am currently using The Gospel of Matthew Volume One by William Barclay- This commentary provides a bit of background information as well as useful examples that prove quite helpful in sermon preparation.
ReplyDeleteand The Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture: Matthew -This commentary is my favorite that I have come across. It provides commentary on every bit of scripture through excerpts from our Church forefathers. I have found some of the most amazing takes on scripture in this commentary. I would recommend this commentary to anyone.
For actual (book) commentaries, I would recommend _Matthew and the Margins_ by Warren Carter, and Robert Guelich's _The Sermon on the Mount_.
